Ruston is responsible for employing a branding and marketing focus to GGA Client engagements. Specifically, Ruston leverages branding and communication strategies & tactics to ensure that GGA programs reach the right target with the right message at the right time. At GGA, Ruston has been successful at conceptualizing new and innovative frameworks which bridge thought leadership, community outreach, and digital marketing to enhance the relevance and impact of Client campaigns.
Ruston has over 25+ years of experience in the advertising industry where he drove business results for some of the world’s well-known brands including Microsoft, Samsung, Shell, Hennessy, Acer, AT&T and Colgate-Palmolive. Most recently, Ruston was the Global Client Lead at J. Walter Thompson where he oversaw the global Johnson & Johnson OTC business leading a team of 150+ professionals across the United States, Europe, Latin America & Asia. In this role, Spurlock was instrumental in building new team capabilities that resulted in breakthrough J&J programs. In addition to his Client management roles, Ruston has served in several executive positions including CEO of Leo Burnett Moscow, General Manager of Leo Burnett New York and Managing Partner of J. Walter Thompson Beijing.
Ruston is a graduate of University of Virginia where he majored in East Asian Studies with a specialization in Japanese Language. Ruston also received an MBA in Marketing from Thunderbird, The American School of International Management. Spurlock is proficient in Japanese and has elementary understanding of Mandarin and Spanish. Ruston is a member of the 4A’s Foundation Board and as an advisor to the William H. Gray III Foundation.
